Eutectic Camping Fridge / Freezer - 12 Volt or 24 Volt
This portable chest fridge/freezer (73 litres) is ideal for camping or travelling or for energy Spartans.
Built tough for Australian conditions it uses a solution in the walls that acts as a "cold sink". Eutectic fridges are frequently used in campervans, motor homes, boats, busses or caravans. The camping fridge comes with heavy duty carry handles and rubber 'feet'.
Efficiency
This Australian made fibreglass chest fridge/freezer is one of the most power efficient units on the market. For even greater efficiency the fridge can be run on a timer that switches on between 10am and 3pm - when there is the best solar insolation. Some members of our staff have taken this fridge on camping trips and all were impressed by its efficiency.
Flexibility
The fridge can be turned into a medium freezer simply by adjusting the thermostat setting. When used as freezer the unit should not be turned off over night as this will cause thawing and subsequent spoiling of the contents. The unit is also not built to be a deep freezer.
Voltage
The fridge/freezer auto detects the voltage of your batteries.
If the battery voltage is less than 17V DC, the electronic unit assumes that it is working from a 12 Volt system.
If the battery voltage is greater than 17V DC, the electronic unit assumes that it is working from a 24 Volt system.
If used in a caravan or other recreational vehicle a secondary or auxiliary battery is recommended.
Power Use (per day on battery)
1) Eutectic Operation (Most Efficient)
- 2 hours run - morning. Then turned off.
- 2 hours run - evening. Then turned off.
- Power use = 4 hours x 4.5 amps = 18 Ah
2) Cyclic Operation
- set Thermostat to 1 or 2. Fridge runs when required.
- Power use = 24 Ah
3) Cyclic Freezer
- set Thermostat on 5, 6 or 7.
- Power use = 46 Ah
