Soma 1000W Grid Tied Wind Turbine

This Wind Turbine can be connected to a grid-tied inverter capable of supplying power to the grid (like the Sunny Boy SB1700). The wind turbine is supplied complete with a voltage regulating controller.

The Soma 1000GC comes with: blade, tail pipe, tail fin, power head, nose cone, propeller bolts and controller.

The controller should be located near the inverter which can be up to 740 metres away from the wind generator. It rectifies the ac output of the Soma, plus it provides protection for the inverter.

The controller will allow the wind generator to spin up to a typical inverter cut-in voltage of 150V but will limit the DC output of the controller to 300VDC with a FET transistor switch which connects a dump resistor across the DC output. The dump load switching circuit maintains the voltage between 220V and 300VDC while the inverter is waiting to Synchronise with the grid. Also included is an independent crow bar thyristor circuit to clamp the DC output in case of regulator failure. An AC failure relay is included as well, so that the AC output of the wind generator is shorted during a grid failure. This will brake the wind generator and prevent it from spinning and dumping energy during extended grid failures.

All turbine components are made from the highest quality materials to withstand long term wear and fatigue. Corrosion protection is a high priority. The blades are constructed using a hollow moulded fibreglass technique that is unique to SOMA. The tilt back action relieves pressure on the wind turbine and the tower in strong winds (over 15m/s). This is a fail safe design with mechanical simplicity. A hydraulic dampener limits the feathering action in gusty winds.

Large rotor diameters ensure high efficiency in light to moderate wind speeds. The brushless, permanent magnet alternators used on all Soma machines are designed to produce a power curve that matches the output of the 2 bladed rotor while operating at optimal tip speed ratios.

We install solar systems in Northern NSW and Southern QLD.

QLD:
Gold Coast (from Coolangatta to Southport), Nerang and Hinterland (Beaudesert) and out West (Warwick, Stanthorpe, Killarney)

NSW:
Northern NSW (Tweed Heads to Yamba, including Evans Head, Byron Bay and Ballina); the Far North Coast Hinterland (Grafton via Lismore to Murwillumbah) and out West (Casino to Tenterfield, including Drake and Tabulam, as well as Woodenbong and Bonalbo)

For larger system we also go up to Brisbane or down to Coffs Harbour and even Glen Innes. Other places by arrangement.
