Lights
As mentioned in our last newsletter, we are slowly expanding our line of lighting. Our 7W Cold Cathode Flexi-Bright in both 12 and 24V are ready for sale, available with or without a ‘silver’ reflector. These lights have an exceptional efficiency of 76 lumens per watt, they aren’t damaged by low voltage, and they can be dimmed. We should have some low cost dimmers available next month. See LIT-CE107 on our website for pictures. They have a standard ES fitting. We also now have the 15W compact fluoro in 12V available with a built in ‘para floodlight reflector’. This will make a good outdoor light when used in conjunction with our Permaflood lampholder LYF-350. We’d suggest that they are best under some protection such as your roof eaves in our harsh weather. Available in BC (LIT-FB115R or ES (LIT-FE115R). Pics of these new lights should be on our website in a day or two.
For March only, buy any of our compact fluoros or Flexi-Bright lights and get a 10% discount!
Living With Solar Weekend Course
Our next weekend Living with Solar course is on 16 & 17 April. George Ghio is also running a similar course in Bealiba, Victoria on the same weekend.
High Efficiency Lighting for small Solar Systems
by Greg Clitheroe, our R & D Technician
Rural electrification schemes using solar power generation are being implemented all over the developing world. Generally, electricity grids are not practical due to remote locations, impassable terrain and the high cost of transmission installation.
Read the full article on high efficiency lighting (even in German). There are two more articles about lighting by Greg in the FAQ Lighting Section.
Cheers from Dave and all the RPC crew.
