1)
AN INCONVENIENT TRUTH
This is a recently released movie documentary by Al Gore about global
warming. I have heard it is very well done and thought provoking. It
is showing in many movie theatres worldwide. For our local people, we
are pleased to announce that we are sponsoring the Northern Rivers Greens
at the first screening in Lismore - Thursday, October 26 at 6.30pm at
Birch, Carroll and Coyle cinema. See you there!

POWERGEN DIESEL BATTERY CHARGERS
Rainbow Power Company is very pleased to announce that we have been appointed
as a distributor for a high quality range of Diesel Battery Chargers. These
Kubota powered chargers are suitable for both rural properties and motor
homes. They have options of being key start or fully automatic. They can
also be marinised if your application requires this. Another option is
the addition of Reverse Osmosis water desalinators with up to 180l/hr capacity.
These are easy to use, low maintenance and feature auto flush.
3) POLE MOUNT FRAMES
We are in the process of stocking a range of pole mount frames for 1 to
6 panels (85 or 130W). These are more expensive than our conventional house
frames and are mainly suited for locations without a suitable roof - eg
remote pumping and telemetry applications. More details
are on our web site here.
4)
24V FLUOROS
Our stock of compact fluoros in BC fitting have just arrived. We have
15, 23 and 30W available - colour temperature is a cool 6200K. We will
have 6 and 9 Watt available in a warm colour with a Sundaya ES17 base
at the beginning of November.
5)
OUBACK POWER 60A MPPT REGULATOR
We have added this to our range of available products. Product code is
REG-010. It is ideal for long distance transmission of solar power as
it can handle 5 - 6 modules in series (and up to 1600W for 24V or 3200W
for 48V). Further
details are available here.

LCD TELEVISION
Our article about the power consumption of LCD televisions in our
FAQ section had no figures for screen sizes between 21" and 45". We´ve
now added some data about a popular size that was missing from our list.
The television is a 26" (66cm) wide screen Magnavox brand. It is a wide
screen (16:9 format); 1366 x 768 resolution; 600:1 contrast ratio and
500 cd/m brightness. The cost was AUD$900. The power used ranged between
94 - 96 watts - generally very steady on 95W. The power used by an LCD
appears to be a lot more constant compared with a CRT television which
varies quite a lot with screen colour and brightness. It plugs direct
into 240V without the external 12 or 24 volt adaptor often found on smaller
LCD televisions. On standby it uses 1 - 2 watts (however it `remembers´ it´s
settings if you wish to turn power off at the main switch).
