Rainbow Power Company Enewsletter #112 - 28 September 2007

Index:

1) Price Rises

2) New Product - Watt Hour Meter (MET-14110)

3) New Product - Mains Power Meter (MET- 031)

4) Conclusion

We´re getting this one out early to you in case you are looking for some reading over the long weekend! Actually, there is not a lot of reading in this one - sorry about that!

(Monday is a Public Holiday here in New South Wales - Labour Day)
1) Price Rises

There have been substantial price rises on batteries and cable as the price of lead and copper has risen substantially on the world market. Prices in our web shop have been updated. You can also email us if you need a new Price List.

2) Watt Hour Meter - (MET- 14110)

We now have a 240V watt hour meter in our range. It should be installed by an electrical contractor and has two applications for our customers.

If you have a grid feed system and would like to measure the gross output of your inverter, then this meter can be installed between the AC output of the inverter and the input into the Utility meter board.

This applies particularly to those who have used a Latronics PV Edge inverter installed on Country Energy meter boards. (Some other inverters do monitor the output and some Utilities monitor the solar input to the grid as opposed to net metering configuration).

A second application for this meter applies if you are receiving a RRPGP grant (in Australia) in excess of $10,000, because your system must be capable of measuring the kWh output.

3) Mains Power Meter (MET- 031)

One might describe this meter as the baby of the previous meter. It is designed for the homeowner to measure the current, peak current, power factor and kWh. It can even measure how much your appliances cost to run. Its most amazing feature is its price - it is only $44!!! See - http://www.rpc.com.au/catalog/mains-power-meter-p-2470.html

4) Climate Change Site

There are a lot of internet sites devoted to environmental issues and in particular Climate Change. However, I thought I would mention this new one which intends to focus on the views and actions of all political candidates in the upcoming Federal election. Check it out - www.thebigswitch.org.au

That´s all for this month folks!

Your comments and questions are most welcome however, there is no need to send our newsletter back to us when you reply!
