Since the regulated feed-in tariff (FiT) was abolished by the NSW Liberal Government it is more difficult to size an appropriate grid connect solar system that provides return on investment.

The regulated FiT is currently set at 0 cent - meaning you get nothing for energy fed into the electricity grid. Hence the only way to make a solar system worthwhile is to consume most generated electricity yourself – better all of it. Our Solar Savings Calculator looks at your average energy consumption and matches a solar system to minimise exports.

You will need a recent AND typical power bill. The form you are about to fill in is designed like a Origin/Country Energy invoice. If you are with a different retailer please look for the corresponding data on your bill. Once all data is provided the calculator shall return:

  • An energy consumption and production graph
  • An annual savings graph
  • An estimate of accumulated savings over 20 years
  • An estimate of system cost (installed), including government rebates.

You can also adjust the suggested solar system and add more panels and watch your savings grow. By default, the calculator assumes a Net FiT of 6 cents/kWh which is offered by several retailers on a voluntary basis. Turn it off to see how marginal the gains of such a FiT really are.
