DescriptionShunt Load Element - water immersion heater
This low-voltage water-heating element is for use as diversion loads for wind or hydroelectric systems. Use one or more of these heating elements with a regulator capable of load diversion, such as the Plasmatronics PL series or the Outback FlexMax series to turn your excess power into hot water.
The element has a standard 2 inch parallel BSP thread found on some hot water systems or 200 Litre drums and is fitted with a two-metre insulated lead. Depending on voltage and desired amp draw, two of these elements can be wired in series or parallel.
The resistance is 1.5 Ohms allowing it to be used for 12 Volt or 24 volt system voltages by series or parallel element connections. The combinations are ideally suited to the load capacity of the PL20 regulator (20 Amps), PL60 (30 Amps) or Solid-state relays, RGX-R41-1 (40 Amps). If the PL40 is used, a relay would be needed to operate off the 5A load terminal.
The element length is approximately 500 mm.
