Sealed AGM Deep Cycle Batteries
Sealed Gel Sealed AGM Lithium-IonWe sell sealed, Absorbed Glass Mat (AGM) batteries like the Ritar RA series and selected other brands/models. AGM batteries are vent regulated lead-acid (VRLA) batteries that release less gas than flooded lead-acid batteries. Hence AGM batteries can be used in poorly ventilated locations like caravan compartments or similar.
The term "valve regulated" is somewhat misleading. VRLA batteries recombine the oxygen (O) produced at the positive plates with the hydrogen (H) from the negative plates - creating water, and therefore preventing water loss and oxidation.
AGM batteries keep the electrolyte suspended in a sponge-like material (the absorbed glass mat) instead of a liquid which makes them safer in an accident situation. The tight packing of an AGM battery also makes it more impact resistant. Consequently, a battery tray is not required as AGMs are classified "spill proof". They must however, be operated in an upright position.
AGM batteries have a low internal resistance which results in increased power output, decreased charging time (rapid charge), and reduced losses from heat. They work fine on the higher voltage chargers (like alternators). This makes them a safe choice as auxiliary batteries for recreational vehicles. Last but not least, AGMs operate well in cold conditions.
In short, AGM batteries are safe, compact, powerful and maintenance free rechargeable batteries - ideal for boats, caravans or other mobile applications.
