Rural Grid Connect System Examples

A grid connect solar system for rural properties is not much different to a residential system. Rural electricity connections are however often two or three phase connections. Some may have more intricate meter setups, too.

It is important to determine how your consumption is spread over those phases / meters. Your house may be on one phase, and the shed(s) on another. There is a lid for every pot, and we will find the best solution for you. Whether you use high powered machinery in the shed, off-site cool rooms, swimming pool pumps, or just like to spend your days at home with the air-con on, it is definitely worth installing solar even on rural or remote properties.

Note: All our rural examples assume a 3 phase connection.

5.9 kW 3-Phase Solar System

cabbages

This grid connect system features 16 Trina solar panels with a total of 5920 watts. The panels will generate about 23.6 kWh/day. If you manage to self-consume all of that power, you will save $3025 each year (@ 35¢/kWh).

You will require about 34 square metres of roof space. Download our roof installation questionnaire.

The 5.9 kW System includes:

Sizing a grid connect solar system

Take a look at this energy usage graph of a typical small office (also showing a well sized solar system to suit):

diagram: energy use in business wih solar system

On a typical business day electricity consumption is quite predictable; computers, printers, lights etc. are turned on in the morning and turned off at the end of the day. If your business operates on weekends then your savings will even be greater.

An oversized grid connect system may still result in higher savings but will definitely increase the payback period. To provide more power at around 9am and 5pm results in a large surplus during midday:

We install solar systems in Northern NSW and Southern QLD.

QLD:
Gold Coast (from Coolangatta to Southport), Nerang and Hinterland (Beaudesert) and out West (Warwick, Stanthorpe, Killarney)

NSW:
Northern NSW (Tweed Heads to Yamba, including Evans Head, Byron Bay and Ballina); the Far North Coast Hinterland (Grafton via Lismore to Murwillumbah) and out West (Casino to Tenterfield, including Drake and Tabulam, as well as Woodenbong and Bonalbo)

For larger system we also go up to Brisbane or down to Coffs Harbour and even Glen Innes. Other places by arrangement.
