Components of Solar Public Lighting Installations
All Pecan Public Area Lighting Systems are designed and constructed to the relevant Australian Standards, from materials that will withstand the harshest of environments. All fixing hardware is either anodised aluminium or stainless steel.
Pecan Public Lighting systems use Satellite™ fixtures from LED Roadway Lighting - manufacturer of advanced energy efficient lighting technologies. The fixtures come with 24 LEDs or 48 LEDs with a miniscule power consumption of 22 Watt (or 43 Watt respectively). Light output is 96 Lumen per Watt.
The Satellite fixture includes
- a patented fin based thermal management system
- state-of-the-art optics with reflectors
- sturdy poly-carbonate cover
- high performance LEDs with an even 5000 K colour temperature

Pole and Solar Frame
The standard poles are 6 metres long and are certified to current Australian wind loading standards. We can also design to meet your requirements for project quantities. Poles are also available with City logos incorporated into the light arm. The solar panel frame has a modern sleek design which being built of sheet steel provides vandal protection to the rear of the solar modules. The frames also come with bird spikes to prevent perching and subsequent excessive droppings on the panels. All components are hot dipped galvanised and are available in a wide range of tough powder coated colours to order.
Most installations would require a rag bolt base which are suitable for parkland settings or areas not adjacent to roadways where speed limit exceeds 50km/h. To meet Australian standards for roadside fitment the Pecan Street Light can also be supplied with slip bases.
For situations were digging a hole is not possible/feasible we offer the above ground "Jetty Box" which can be bolted to concrete or Jetties. The Jetty Box adds an extra 600mm to the height of the light pole.
We use small area modules (SAM) from CNPV. The solar panels come with an industry leading 10 year warranty for material defects and workmanship and a 25 year limited performance warranty. View a data sheet.
The size and number of the panels are matched to the inverter or battery (usually 12 volts). The system is optimised for the region it operates in so that the amount of energy generated over a year is balanced to the energy used in powering the light - meaning the system is energy neutral.
